Is Menopause The Reason I am so fat?
Weight gain is a common symptom of menopause… ok so it is more than just common. There are very few women that do not gain weight during menopause, and the lucky few still complain of weight redistribution (extra weight around the belly and waistline). Unfortunately, this is not good news, because abdominal fat is a risk factor for diabetes, hypertension, cancers, and heart disease.

My deal is not the getting fat issue, it’s feeling bloated like a balloon. I have to keep 2 sizes of clothing, because I seem to flucuate back & forth about 5-8 pounds. I’ve tried tracking the bloating with what I’m eating or certain times of the month & it doesn’t seem to be any of these issues. Oh to be a woman!!
I think that the weight gain and bloating are two of the most frustrating of all the menopause symptoms. I can handle the hot flashes and mood swings but the tight pants are driving me nuts. I can certainly blame much of it on stress and not always making the best food choices but come on. Can’t the menopause gods cut us some slack?
I have prayed to those Gods for a little slack in the waist band… no answer yet
I will cover the use of Soy for weight loss in our next newsletter.
